I only stir clockwise if I intentionally choose to.
Like if I'm stirring something that needs a lot of mixing.

I think I automatically start counter-clockwise, but I try to stir in both directions and from side to side to make sure everything is good and mixed.

I drink my coffee out of a stainless steel mug and whenever I stir my coffee I go to town hard because there's no chance of chipping the mug. More cowbell.
