Watching Barney Miller, one of the greatest TV shows of all time...

This show is fucking hilarious, I dunno what it is about it...

It's so great. The setting is great even though it's basically always exactly the same.

I think that's part of what made it different from other shows... it has to give more care to developing the plot and to subtle nuance in order to be special or exciting.

Season 3, Episode 11 - "Hash"... Wojo brings in a box of brownies his new 'girlfriend' made, and unbeknownst to him, they're laced with pot:

2:54 is about where I start cracking up.

Just like when I was a kid and pretended to be Loni Anderson on WKRP in Cincinnati, I always used to pretend I worked at Barney Miller's 12th precinct too. My school desk came in handy, had a nameplate on it and everything. Worked so well for pretending both shows. It was so fun. I had a badge that I made out of a wallet. I put one of those glow in the dark star thingies in it, the kind you press onto your wall. It was so damn awesome... I had a black cap gun. Ah man. That shit felt so real too, the whole thing was like its own reality.

There's just so much epic humor in this show peppered in all over the place.

9:03 OMG LMFAO... this episode is gold, I remember not really getting it when I first saw it as a kid.

I always loved Harris, he's one of my favorites. I have Ron Glass' autograph, he is very kind. Aaaand, apparently he's dead. 11/25/16. Well then, thanks Google... *facepalm.

Dietrich was my favorite, I loved him hardcore, totally had a crush on that guy. Steve Landesberg. Who is also dead.  I think he was the one who came along and replaced Fish... I never liked Fish all that much anyways. Although now, I understand his character better. I just never really 'got' him. I totally 'get' him now though, and can appreciate him more.

17:30 this episode is hardcore advocating legalization of whacky weed!!! Teehee!!! 17:40 ROFLMAO.
God made me funky...
And I'm glad He blessed me that way.

Dietrich...

Heart

I always thought Luger (James Gregory) was really great as well. I think he was a great actor.

I just love Dietrich's personality. But I also think he's rather beautiful.

6:54 Vienna Sausages, ROFLROFL.

This episode really exemplifies what a rarity it was to be obese back then.

I just think Dietrich is really sexy.

22:15 wow, it was a 48 hour marathon of Barney Miller!!! WTF!!! Heaven thooouuughhh!!!

that show ended in 82. high fructose corn syrup was deployed mid to late 70s into the 80s, thus beginning the obesity epidemic.

i don't recall seeing many fatties in the 80s as a child. i do remember the one person in charge of the day care center i went to, her name was Peggy. i purposely pronounced it right in between Peggy and Piggy.

Yep...

It's a tragedy. With this slow decay into fat, lethargic slobs...

Seems like Operation Degradation went live in the 70s...

That's when it was all rolled out, the long con.

I thought I had made an individual thread about this but apparently it was part of another thread: http://www.sectual.com/thread-3974.html

Gonna have to make this thread.

Awww, I didn't know Barney split up with his wife in the show!!! That's fucked up!!!

It's sweet because he obviously really loves her!!!

Why wouldn't this bitch wanna be with Barney?!?!?

I wish I could pluck Dietrich right out of this show...

I've ALWAYS felt that way! Like some shit right out of Weird Science!

18:43 ROFL I love that guy's reaction when he gets out of the cage.

Season 5, Episode 1 - "Kidnapping"...

This is a 1978 episode, these ones have such an extra retro feel to them... very sexy.

The 5th season was the last with Jack Soo...

He had an interesting story, was born on a ship in the Pacific Ocean. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jack_Soo Anyway, he was best known for his role on Barney Miller. He died from esophageal cancer during season 5.

2:03 damn, that's a pretty fine hooker!!!

5:21 ROFL.

8:09, her response to the separate rooms thing was so perfect, LMAO.

ROFL, Luger is hilarious, love that guy.

I love the colors of the squad room and Barney's office too...

So delightfully drab and earthy.

13:33 OMG LMAO. 13:57 ROFLROFL.

25:43 again... same story, different decade! I'm glad I started watching these re-runs. It was a random decision, but it's been pretty eye opening. Same ol' same ol'.

30:54 ROFLMAOLOLOL.

35:08 OoooHoohoohoooOooo daaayum, I like it when Dietrich talks that way.

38:42 LMFAOLOLOL Luger is very animated, the hand gestures, super funny.

44:37 you can tell that guy has a fat dick... he's really pretty hot.
God made me funky...
And I'm glad He blessed me that way.
