So what's the deal with red sprites??

I only recently heard about them, probably in the last few years...

Have they always been a thing, or is this something new based on tampering with the skies?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sprite_(lightning)

The Wiki entry makes a point of mentioning that they've been documented since the 1880s...

Interesting.

They don't seem compelled to mention how far back the recorded history of regular lightning goes...

I dunno, just curious.

while they've been around forever, the red sprites started popping up more in the 00s. i suspect it is a combination of our solar system moving into a different medium while concurrently we blast the shit out of our atmosphere with cell phones and wifi and shit.

red sprites sadly do not trigger my fulgarophilia.

Definitely seems like it. Traveling through new interstellar media seems like a plausible explanation.

I find the uptick in these sightings and captures of sprites pretty interesting and rather suspicious.

Yeah this is NOT normal...

This is NEW.

THIS IS NEW.

And my guess is it's directly related to the changes in the color of the sun (at least as it concerns the perspective from earth/below the atmosphere)...

6:00 Nancy calls it "upper atmosphere lightning" and says there's a lot of it that goes on "during passage" of Planet X's closest approach to the earth...
