I reckon she could have got a new van cheaper she is probably in debt for that too how would she get the cash?

Yeah she had to replace her transmission three times she said...weird.

You see the bill the first one 5800 bucks? I mean someone seriously ripped her off. Why the hell she just didn't get another Van I guess sentimental reasons, well shit lets all go in to debt for sentimental reasons lol no thanks!

That is the problem if you out on the road and they see you live in a Van they literally ass rape you cos they know you can go no where without paying. This is why I want a small RV with some space to keep tools like an engine hoist with a generator which is a welder inverter compressor. So I can fix literally anything myself without getting ripped off. When you are stranded they will get you.

I think so to, that is too bad for her. She said she had a really bad year and things kept going wrong.

I think that is one of the trade-offs if you buy a cheaper but older, used van with lots of mileage. Sure it may be all you can afford, but if you're going to be investing into making it a home, I think it's better if you try to save up for awhile and buy a newer van that isn't going to breakdown and have problems.

I bet she had hotel costs on top of that, because where else is she going to live while it's getting fixed?

You don't want your home to break down on you in the middle of nowhere!

Most of the van dwelling channels are setups now...

It's like I said on the Zane thread:

It takes whatever organically comes up in the ranks of popularity, and it invents and contracts its own mass-marketable version of the fad... and it has to be safe for the masses, it has to be somebody non-controversial who doesn't upset all the masses who are brainwashed retards.

I despise what they do. I fucking DESPISE their method of cloning what's organically popular and bolstering THEIR VERSION OF IT to make money.

So how does this concern people like Zane? Well basically, people like Zane, as pioneers of this popular 'trend' will get their notoriety and enjoy their snowball effect popularity... but eventually corporate YouTube will inundate the platform with their FAKE versions of the real thing. THEIR STOOGES are the ones who will be sponsored and get to the top via algorithms etc.

We need to make another youtube, I know its almost impossible, but to do the impossible is fucking possible.
Why live life trying to do the mundane? Get up and try to do the impossible.

Really? I didn't think that, she might come across as ditzy but she hiked the Pacific Coast trail by herself and was a known newscaster in San Diego who left her career. Are you telling me this is all fake and contrived?!!

I hope not, I was so inspired.

Well I guess that's the point, to be inspired in your own life either way.

Are these setups actually made BY YouTube or just savvy marketing people who are looking to monetize a channel?

Being inspired is good anyway you can get it really. But I doubt she did any of that alone. Probably had help being a corporate person. Like that rock climbing chick is real I dunno about the other one.

She probably paid like $100,000 for that van setup.

4:22 what the hell else are you gonna do besides clean the damn dishes??? I can't stand it when people don't clean the dishes promptly.

The bed is the part that doesn't make sense to me though...

Seems like it wouldn't be that comfortable. The bed is like the most important part of any setup.

These people living in vans and RVs are fucking brilliant.

They're free and they're winning life, that is my honest opinion.

Maybe so, that is interesting...I really had no idea YouTube was doing that but I don't spend a lot of time on it.

Honestly, I just really dig the design of her van. It is some place I could see myself living and being happy.

The pioneers like Zane and Bob are cool and have their own style, more rugged and probably more authentic, but their van lifestyle is not something I can relate to, it just wouldn't be for me personally.

I love Bob though (I haven't watched much from Zane), but know they have so much wisdom to share from doing this for so long and I really appreciate how open he is with helping others and giving out advice, so I can see wanting them to get credit where credit is due.

Yeah I mean, Zane was doing van life back in like 2013 before it was even popular on YouTube... and he did it pretty well. He doesn't live in a van now, it'd be awesome if he did though.

Possibly, because she bought her van brand new.

My cousin bought the same year Sprinter (2016) for $38K and the quote to convert was about $20k. When all is said and done, they will probably spend about $60k and have something similar in terms of features. They are literally in the process of doing it now, so I'll be curious how much it ends up costing when all is said and done and let you guys know. Her husband is really handy though and can also probably do some of the work himself, but he has a full time job and not a lot of time to do it.

My other cousin converted her van on the cheap and probably spent half that amount. So you can do it either way

The vans that are already converted are the real rip-offs, people will spend $60k and then turn around and ask $100k for them.

Yep, it's so true. Just like anything else. People make a ton of money off of putting it all together for people who don't have time to do it themselves, or the ability, but have plenty of money to pay for it.

What's great about all this is that it shows mobile living is really starting to catch on and kick off.

Interestingly though, I am predicting that the people who have to have super luxurious rigs won't make it longterm in the mobile lifestyle... just a hunch I have.

I think it's the minimalist bare bones kinda people who make it. Because it's all about that attitude... of freedom and detachment from "things", and the standards surrounding house life (kitchens with marble countertops, big closets for clothes, and so on). Time will tell!

I remember seeing it like back in 2008 but no one actually fucking cared about it, like after the GFC people were living in cars n vans like out of need.
But its hard to find those vids I might have to look at old saved bookmarks. Seems youtube algo just fucks all that shit off to promote its current bullshit. But people just thought they were bums. Now everyone wants to do it cos its better than being a slave.

Ive worked for sunliner and done fit outs but its like all plastic mouldings now fibreglass mouldings. They just slot in. You see these way expensive buses n shit on the RV sales site and you see its way over priced like they trying to recoup the time they spent doing it. Materials don't cost that much its all labour. People make a living off it though they are getting the little moving house van trucks and fitting them out. But imagine the mark up they are putting on it.
