development of winamp ceased years back. some other company bought it and are doing something with it now, likely tarnishing its good name. you can still find install files for the old versions. i got a bunch of them on old hard drives. i sent them $10 back in the day, the only time i paid for non-game software for a very long time.

Another company bought PowWow from Tribal Voice back in the day with the intention of integrating it into some kind of music sharing / media player application. That program never came to market.
I really loved Winamp's cool looking skins that stretched when you resized the window. Meh, whatever. I'm fine with VLC Player now.

I hadn't encountered GLP during the MO era, but I learned about her role there afterwards, so this doesn't come as too much of a shock to me. It's very much in keeping with her "back to basics" philosophy.
