Some sunglasses are cooler than others. A dorky looking pair of shades probably won't boost your coolness level that much.

I tried on cheap sunglasses at a convenience store the other day. I like the Lara Croft shades the best.
When I was young, I had a pair of shades with black frame and black tinted lenses with tiny white polka dots on the lenses. I haven't seen any like that since the 80s.
