IT'S GONNA BLOWWWWWW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
BETELGEUSE TAKE ME HOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It's very obvious that it's collapsing in upon itself.
As far as how long that process will take, who knows.

I've always been hopeful to see a supernova in my lifetime, but TIME'S TICKIN' DOWN MOTHERFUCKERS, LET'S DO THIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is so cool.

The surface can recover from shedding most of its area, there doesn't need to be much left for it to snap back.

But once it does shed the entire surface, it goes supernova. Blasts everything in its radius, like a giant sperm, sending the elements of life far into the universe.
Betelgeuse is gonna create some sexy as fuck lifeforms a billion years after it goes supernova.

I'll bet they've already used the James Webb Telescope to look at Betelgeuse and won't released the findings.
