They're sorta retro... sorta vintage.

It's gotta be cool by now, right??

RIGHT GUYS?!?!?!!!?
*was never aware it was uncool to like them*

Ooooooooh, you mean their MUSIC!! lol
I just feel like it's been long enough that they can be grandfathered into coolness in some peoples' minds just because they came from the 90s.

I dunno, I mean it was not necessarily ever "uncool" to like them per se, but it was also never unequivocally cool to like them either.
Baby Spice and Sporty Spice really had my number back in those days, va-va-va-voom!

And Sporty only got better with age, filling out a bit and taking on that charming glow.

*swoonage*
Sporty is actually the best looking one IMO.

People used to say that back in the day and I thought they were idiots, but now I totally see it.
She's gorgeous!! Then AND now!!
I didn't know much about them in their heyday, except that they were pretty hot and had comic book character names.

It seems appropriate to wax nostalgic about them at this point.
Thank you, Dev!!! YES!!!

Woohoo
I was team Baby Spice back in the day. I went through phases. Ginger was my second fave. Posh was my third.

Now I will order them in terms of hotness/prettiness from my adult perspective...

1. Sporty
2. Scary
3. Baby
4. Posh
5. Ginger

It's kinda catty, but it's something they've always dealt with anyway.
I loved Spiceworld (the movie) and thought it was very weird and funny. I still remember certain parts as being pretty legendary.

The one quote I remember as the absolute best was the villain guy in his chair stroking his cat (I think it was a cat, maybe it was a bunny, lmao) and he goes, "Without something... there is no nothing." And I was like DAAAAAMN. It sounded like bullshit at the time, but now it makes total sense and it's actually true. I've written about how nothingness can only be observed from the standpoint of existence ("something") because nothingness has no ability to interpret itself.
Now I'm gonna post my fave Spice Girls songs.

There was one song I remember back in the day, even Spice Girls haters like the teenagers who were too cool to EVER own a Spice Girls CD, they all agreed that it was their best song, and it's definitely true if you wanna look at things from a serious standpoint.

Viva Forever:

"Back where I belong now... was it just a dream?"
Sporty was always said to have the best voice and I definitely agree with that.

I actually like Posh's voice... sorta a spoken type deal, I like that. Sorta William Shatner-esque, but a chick.
2 Become 1

Definite meme material and I use it for that a lot...

What I hate about it now though is that they changed a line in the song, and I've never been able to find the original again...

1:27 on Posh's verse, it used to say "Boys and girls go good together" but since all the faggy propaganda kicked off, they changed it to something less melodic and incredibly lame.

Sad. Pathetic.
"Naked" is their second best song, IMO...

Their motto back in the day was "Girl Power!" and really that was everywhere in the late '90s...

So it's not really their fault.

Some of their lyrics reflect the decline into unfair imbalance toward women...

But even in their time, it was not so bad. It wasn't insufferable.

This song is more so telling a story...

It's basically about a chick manipulating dudes because they let her.
Such poppy '90s deliciousness.
Last Time Lover was a DIRTY song, lmao! I never really got it back in the day, but I loved it. So catchy...

"Spice" (1996) was definitely their best set of songs.
If U Can't Dance was their most fun song IMO...

For some reason, this song takes me RIGHT BACK to watching "Unsolved Mysteries" re-runs, eating these huge blueberry marshmallows circa 1999.

I didn't have many friends as a kid (shocker), but I did have a few...

One of them was Ashley, and she was a chubby girl. I remember she came over to spend the night... she found this old stale bag of the blueberry marshmallows stuffed under my bed and I was like, "Umm, those are like really really old," and she just proceeded to eat them no fucks given whilst cackling like a witch telling me about how she caught her sister humping pillows.

I shit you not.

After Ashley fell asleep, I snuck out of the room and slept in the bed with my mom because I was scared.
"Who Do You Think You Are" was a top fave...

Everybody liked "Move Over" and I remember putting it on the jukebox at a pizza joint on a church youth group outing...

I was in the youth group from age 7 because my mom was the youth minister.

The teenagers were really nice to me and liked me a lot. The girls would get me to sit with them on the back pews and play with my hair and talk shit/gossip in muted voices throughout the services.
