Aaliyah's 1994 involvement with him is always the first mention.

I think that in 2001, Aaliyah's case against him was the most threatening by far, IF she spoke up.

Whatever piece of crap is responsible needs to be brought to justice, because Damon was right when he said the world would be a different place today if Aaliyah had lived.

6:37 she was so fun and humble, and just astonishingly beautiful. She really was so special.

It's a trip to see all this footage.
Her brother Rashad was crazy gorgeous too, never really seen him much before. Can't believe this was 20 years ago.
The world has changed so much since then...

Definitely a downgrade in a lot of ways, but we're coming out the other side..

Darkest before dawn and whatnot.
Quote:In August 2021, it was reported that the One in a Million album and Aaliyah's other recorded work with Blackground (since rebranded as Blackground Records 2.0) would be re-released on physical, digital, and streaming services in a deal between the record label and Empire Distribution. However, Aaliyah's estate, run in part by Rashad, issued a statement preempting Blackground 2.0's announcement, denouncing an "unscrupulous endeavor to release Aaliyah's music without any transparency or full accounting to the estate". One In A Million was reissued on August 20, 2021.

Yeah it sounds like a fancy way to say they find fault with the timing of the release...

In typical loosh harvest fashion, in typical follow the money fashion...

It's all about popularizing her to a new generation on the 20th anniversary of her death just to make more $$$.

It'll be one of the last times the dying old guard elitist power structure gets to do some shit like this.

The way I see it...

At least the album will be in people's hands again for a reasonable price...

I get that the estate is salty about it, they've got every right to be for the reasons stated above, but...

I don't think having more Aaliyah in the world again is gonna be a bad thing.
Maybe chicks will take a few pages out of her style book and start dressing with some actual personality again.
It wouldn't be a bad thing for her gorgeous svelte figure to inspire people to go back to more natural, normal looking bodies...

Leave the quest for massive asses and hips and tits behind 'em.
Maybe it was Beyonce.
So I'm searching for any correlation between the two...

And I find this article and happen to scroll right down to this paragraph...

Quote:Jay Z, now married to Beyoncé, was rumoured to be in love with Aaliyah, as was his friend Damon Dash. And even Timberland revealed he too was in love with her. "I was going at her, but Jay was going at her," revealed Dash back in 2001.

https://graziamagazine.com/articles/beyo...rs-aaliyah

Look at where Beyonce and Jay-Z are now. Some of the elite's most popular tools, and insidiously rich too.

Remember the debacle with Jay-Z's "Blueprint" album being released on 9/11/01...

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Blueprint

(They're re-releasing Aaliyah on 9/10/21.)

At the same time as Aaliyah was getting her second movie, Beyonce was getting her first real role in Austin Powers.

There were a lot of reasons for Beyonce to see Aaliyah as a threat.

I always wondered why Aaliyah's body language was so defensive here...

Interesting...

Holy shit...

Quote:"Sorry Aaliyah/ I'm sorry it was you in the plane crash/ It should've been Jay... Dame Dash."

Quote:Photos from a Fourth of July party in 2000 (taken about two years before Jay-Z moved on to now wife Beyonce) show Aaliyah and Jay-Z getting cozy

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article...death.html

Quote:It’s been six years since Timbaland muse/former R. Kelly spouse Aaliyah died in a plane crash, and apparently that mourning period is enough time for Beyonce to look into covering her songs.

https://www.idolator.com/323303/outraged...op-beyonce

Quote:In "Apathy," she starts things off with a mock eulogy for her marriage ("Ashes to ashes, dust to side chicks"), before dropping a cryptic clue about the identity of the other woman: "He better call Becky with the good hair."

https://www.thedailybeast.com/beyonces-l...damon-dash

Aaliyah always had the silky, black hair and Beyonce was jealous of that look just like in that video clip with the woman leaning in to talk to Jay-Z, it was the first thing I noticed about her...

I never knew about any of this before right now. I just woke up this morning with Beyonce in my head re: Aaliyah and that's pretty damn weird.
I will say this about Aaliyah's eponymous album...

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aaliyah_(album)

It has a lot of good songs on it.

That's just the truth.

A lot of early 2000s artists had like one good song per album.

Like ONE song it all hinged on.

But if I look at the track list...

Out of 14 songs, I would classify 11 of them as good, 6 of them as excellent, 4 of them as iconic.

That's pretty remarkable.

It's a very unique album and stands up to the test of time... it'll never not be good.
I hope they all get put on YouTube... maybe they're already there. I'll have to go look.
Hm, looks like most of them haven't hit any official VEVO yet, and in all likelihood what's uploaded right now will probably be removed.
There's a lot of magic in Aaliyah's music... if I look back on just this year, I started spinning those tunes again (for the first time since like 2007) in early July, which was when they were originally released. That's pretty strange.

The wheel is always spinning and it always comes around again.
I'd even expect the songs on the Aaliyah VEVO right now to be removed/replaced as well.

I dunno that that really is even an official VEVO channel.
I can't wait to see that Aaliyah CD insert again, oh my God...

It has some of the most delicious pics in there...

This is my fave:

Insanely hot...

Gold was her color for sure.

Was she ever really a kid though? I dunno that she was.
So this is apparently the official channel:

Look at these hotass dude dancers, lmao...

THAT'S the way to fucking do it right there.

Fuck having some female dancers.
Early 2000s style was fucking fire, oh my God. I can't get over it. I bet it makes a huge comeback now.
