It does neatly solve the problem of cluttering up the front page with pinned threads.
Yeah, if they just stuck to the top with no delineation between "Important" threads and "Normal" threads, I may use the actual pin feature more often.
As it stands though, it just doesn't look aesthetically pleasing.
So the honorary pin icon will have to suffice.
