A little over 2 years ago, I ran across a lot of YouTube videos and subsequent articles about how abused farm animals are. It really made me think about things. It made me think about my love for animals, how innocent they are, how the Bible says that humanity was literally created to care for the animals. It all added up. It made sense. I read about all the reasons why humans were supposedly 'not meant' to eat meat, from 'debunking myths' about nutrients, to the shape/size of human teeth.

I believed that it was true... that we really didn't "need" meat and that all the vital nutrients could be found in plant foods. So I cut out meat entirely. I stopped eating all dairy products. I tried to spread a message of freeing the animals from their enslavement. Zoos? Abolish them. I still stand behind this. I think 80% of zoos should be done away with. There are very few zoos which have adequate setting to give these animals a 'natural' or remotely free life.

After about a year, I caved in to cravings for cheese. I wanted it so bad, and I couldn't deny it any longer. It wasn't meat, so I didn't feel bad about it.

Eventually, after about a year and a half... I came to realize I had an extreme desire for fish. I mean, if I just saw the word "FISH", I would have these intense cravings for them. INTENSE. It came from a totally unbiased place within me. It was NATURAL. That's when I realized something was up. I decided to eat fish. I came to the conclusion that as long as it wasn't a "warm blooded" creature, then it wasn't so much like I was "eating my own".

I started to eat fish fairly often... once or twice a week. Fast forward another 6-8 months... I started to realize, quite frankly, I was deficient. In something. I don't know, I have no idea what it was. But my body and mind started to cry out, it was an emergency. My final stores of this vital nutrient were depleted. My body urged me to eat beef... specifically. After having felt like shit for longer than I've ever been used to... I was willing to try it just to see if it helped.

And guess what? A week of eating cheeseburgers and steaks... and I was as good as new. Everything went back to normal... I felt a PHYSICAL vitality surge through me that I hadn't felt in a long, long time. It wasn't until I had eaten that delicious meat that I realized how deprived I had felt. How hungry I had been.

Because you see... you're NEVER FUCKING FULL when you just eat plants. NEVER. You have to eat a MASSIVE amount of fruits and vegetables to feel sustained. Let's be real about it... I don't live on a tropical island where bananas and all kinds of juicy fruits grow everywhere and I can just go climb up and tree and pick all the fruit I'll need for the day.

The vegetarian lifestyle is UNSUSTAINABLE. The massive amount of fruit and vegetables needed to actually stay healthy is quite frankly ridiculous.

Meat KEEPS you full. I only need one meal containing meat daily, and I am totally full and satisfied for the rest of the day and night.

Besides... the brain is fat. It needs animal fat. Here is a list of nutrients only found in animal products: https://authoritynutrition.com/5-brain-n...fish-eggs/

Some will suggest in defense of the vegetarian/vegan diet that all the nutrients "only found in animals" are there BECAUSE the animals eat PLANTS, therefore we can just eat the plants. But I must disagree wholeheartedly with this concept. I believe that the way the ANIMALS PROCESS the PLANTS and those nutrients, is SPECIAL... and we need to eat the animal to properly reap the benefits of those nutrients.

At the end of the day, common sense must reign supreme. And what does common sense tell us? It tells us to look at what WE are MADE UP OF.

We're made up of meat.

Life feeds on life.

We must eat the meat.

It's harsh truth. It's the world we find ourselves in. These are the rules.

What then can we do to care for and respect the animals in light of this understanding? Well, we have to have REVERENCE for those animals. To me, it's easy to understand why some cultures have worshipped animals. I have a sentiment for the animals that is very close to worship. Especially the cow, considering my newfound experiences and understandings.

Left and right I hear about vegans who are always sick with a "cold" and always "tired"... they never make the connection. They don't realize they HAVE to eat the meat and animal products. And so many of them are way too stubborn to change their diet and their outlook on the matter, even though they are literally sick from their diet choices. Respect, love, honor the animals you eat... but don't torture yourself with ill health just because of a failure to grasp these principles. That's what I have to say to them.

It's also important to consider geographical location. Where did your ancestors come from, what grew naturally in those lands? What were their diets like? My ancestors lived on mostly animal product. It's just a fact. It's in my genetic makeup, and it's what I need to be healthy.

More suffering doesn't make things right. We're on this planet to be free and every aspect of society and the construct of 'progress' has done its damnedest to hamper our ability to exercise that freedom and happiness. And it's done the same to the animals.

We have to make it a world where animals are revered and given the best quality life... because you are what you eat. And when it comes time to eat that meat, we have to be sure it's led a happy and healthy life.

We'll never change or escape our true nature. The best we can do is to confront that truth, and shape this world to be a place of freedom, cleanliness and health for the greater good of all.
I absolutely agree, we are meat and need to eat meat. Plants eat dirt, that's not recommend for human consumption.

I don't eat meat every day, I have a hard time digesting chicken and beef but do fine with fish and turkey. I do eat a lot of sardines, I crave those. Those are a healthy fat too. I also crave beans which have a lot of protein in them. I think these are very healthy cravings because my body knows what it needs.
I agree so much...

The body will actually TELL you what it wants.

Of course there's a difference between it saying "I want a Twinkie" and "I need a steak".

One of those is ego and one is survival. Very important to be connected with our bodies on an intuitive level so that we can listen.

As for eating meat every day, I agree that proper time for digestion is really important. If I eat a lot of meat one day, the next day I may not eat any at all and just keep whatever I eat really light.

It's been a great learning experience for me.
you clearly just didn't eat enough moss to cover for the lack of meat.
ROFL

One can never...

NEVER EAT ENOUGH MOSS.

Bowing down briefly before I continue.

Rather than reverence of the animals being 'virtue signaling', I have to make it clear that animal worship is a very personal thing and not something I would openly advertise for attention or something. The worship goes on within a person... it's a private experience. Of course I agree with you as any sensible person should that personally worshipping the animals does little for them on a real world basis. I am putting my own feelings about the matter out there rather than speaking on it as a world issue or something.

Vegans/vegetarians largely seem to think that by abstaining from animal products, they're somehow magically helping improve the lives of animals, or save their lives. A lot of them get involved in hardcore activism trying to "spread the vegan message" as a mechanism of helping the animals. Raising awareness is great, but it still really doesn't effectively solve this problem of animal abuse.

Your donation suggestion is the closest thing to a solution that I have seen offered... but really people need to get in there up close and personal and change the paradigm. There's a big problem of stubbornness and denial when it comes to the vegan/vegetarian community. The world isn't going to 'go vegan', I'm sorry, it's not gonna happen. And if it did, I'm pretty sure (at least judging by my own experience) everyone would get sick and start dying within 5-10 years. I mean it would be glaringly obvious that shit isn't working out even before that timeframe.

People need to look at the situation realistically... we're going to eat animals. We're gonna keep doing it. So let's make the lives of the animals better. I mean it's so damn fucking simple...

If vegan/vegetarian activists would try to advocate fiercely for better conditions instead of just telling everyone to stop eating meat entirely (unrealistic, sorry, not sorry) then I think it would be a much faster process.
different blood types lead to different biochemistries. what works for one particular biochemistry is likely to not work as well for another.

all this blanket diet / don't eat ____ stuff does much more harm than good.
Well said, Genba.

My blood type does great with beef, but chicken is one meat that is warned against. Interestingly since I started eating meat again, I'm totally uninterested in chicken. Used to love it, but now I just don't really crave it.

I'm supposed to eat lamb, mutton, venison, and RABBIT... like where the fuck do you get THAT!?

Butcher type shops that sell specialty goods (like Italian foods) usually have something like rabbit or venison in the freezers. Call around, lamb is easy to find and so delicious!

I get beef bones for broth and I can only get those at a butcher store.
Wow I just looked up my blood type food diet and it said to only eat turkey for meat and sardines was on the good list for fish. It's amazing how our cravings just know.
I know right!?!?!

Especially after a time of deprivation and the subsequent depletion of nutrients...

The cravings become very specific and honed in.

A couple months ago I ate some shellfish, I had some smoked oysters. I immediately felt like shit afterward.

Not too long after that, I came across the blood type diet and sure enough, shellfish is on the list of foods I shouldn't eat because they are "disruptive" to my system and digest poorly.
I like a lot of the foods on my eat list but bacon is on my avoid list! Turkey is the only meat besides the fish. I just made turkey patties too. I already eat a lot of the vegetables on my eat list.

I'm just glad I know my body well!
Always listen to your body it knows best, i tried to not eat meat for a week and at the end of the week i felt so week and sickly i stopped.
I have a hard time with some grains so i eat less of that, i do well with most meats except pork for some reason.
It upsets my stomach so i limit that too.

If more people listened to their bodies there would be far less sickness.
I've never liked meat, even as a child I only ate the fat surrounding the meat, that was my favorite part.

I hate pepperoni on pizza, just pineapple on pizza and pineapple is on my good list.

I'm so shocked that only turkey is allowed for me and that's all I've been eating, just a little bit, I had a nibble, half a patty yesterday but I've been eating the navy beans on my good list most of the week. I feel even better without meat.

I also have a cupboard full of sardines and mackerel.

Now I need to replace the buckwheat noodles, that's the only bad thing I eat.

WTF am I going to eat for breakfast now that I can't have noodles?

What do you think prevents people from knowing their bodies?

For me it usually takes a juice fast for a couple weeks to reset then when I eat stuff I know by the digestion whether or not I should eat it. Tummy pain, no good food. That's all I ever got from it, tummy pains.

But my cravings are usually for healthy foods on my good list like beans and cauliflower. I effing crave cauliflower and I stink up my whole house because of it. I crave beets. I'm glad I don't crave processed foods like chips and cakes.

What's really sad is how "listening to your body" is basically interpreted as "woo-woo" shit by so many people. The concept of the body having any kind of innate intelligence and discernment of its own is like crazy talk to them.

The gut is the second brain, it's the seat of intuition (or at least a big part of it IMO)... of course it's going to have thoughts that we can pick up on. It gets back to all these newfangled concepts like "anxiety" and "panic attacks". These things stem from people not listening to their bodies. Lack of awareness of the effects of their actions on the body. Continually doing unhealthy things, for example, and ignoring warning after warning from the body.

Society/the masses are in a terrible position where they've been brainwashed against common sense itself from day one.
God put us in charge of all the animals and of the earth, for us to use, but we are supposed to treat them with respect. That doesn't mean we aren't supposed to be eating animals.

There is no need for some of the cruelty that a lot of these farm animals have been put through though.
I like the Native American Method of hunting and paying respect

they prayed to the animal after killing it
yes we had a nice discussion on entanglement at the other place...

its important for people to remember how to feel, to be emotional as well as logical

as we fly down the spirals of time, we are losing our humanity to the machines we build to do the things that we find hard...

kinda off topic sorry
Oh yeah, I have seen 'entanglement' with my own eyes...

Literally, physically, I saw it.

Quantum entanglement is one of my favorite topics. I should get a little more into that, maybe make a thread about its significance and the importance of understanding what we bind with on an energetic level.

It's all light and sound....

I've seen "light strands" between physical objects, binding to each other.

One of those special moments... where even if you never see it again, now you know, and you can't "un-know" it.
