It honestly just looks like they're TRYING to kill the platform.
Maybe it got out of hand. I'm trying to think of non-conspiratorial reasons why they are doing this.
Massive amount of footage gets uploaded to YouTube every minute. It must be A LOT of data...
Maybe this is their version of population control.
That's the most innocent explanation I have.
Aside from that...
The more realistic reason (IMO) is that ALTERNATIVE MEDIA IS TAKING OVER YOUTUBE AND THEY CAN'T HANDLE IT.
Their corporate masters are breathing down their necks, threatening God only knows what if they don't get this situation under control.
And even if it means sacrificing their own platform...
I bet they are willing to, just to appease their masters, just to avoid whatever threats that are being made actually being carried through with.

I don't know about you guys, but I watch Youtube for shits.... oddball stuff, etc. and I don't watch it for hours like TV. I watch it to find stuff that's NOT on tv.

YouTube's slogan used to be "Broadcast Yourself". It was all about the oddball, it was all about individual creative expression. Then after so many years, after the population grew so much, corporations started moving in to use that viewership to promote their products. They really got their footing in the dreaded "beauty community" that blew up super hard around 2008/9. It was all downhill from there. They started encroaching all the other channels with large audiences where products could be plugged.
Then they started using the actual ads system to do kinda the same targeting.
Around 2015 is when alternative media on YouTube started getting totally out of their control. They've tested several methods of censorship since then, and nothing has proved effective enough for them.
People also incessantly upload old TV shows (and as new as they can get away with) to the platform. They've been doing this for YEARS with music videos, but YouTube sort of found a way to incorporate that with agreements like Vevo. The TV show uploads are a different matter though. There's nobody to make an 'agreement' with concerning those videos. Same with movies, people bootleg all new movies and upload them in full to YouTube immediately. They've tried to make a solution for that as well by offering movies 'for rent' via YouTube. They've been doing it for years but it's still not solving the problem.
It seems to me that YouTube is using all of this TV/movie material that is uploaded as an excuse to say that people "want" to see TV and the movies ON YouTube. It's a red herring... the real problem is that the corporate media CANNOT TOLERATE the platform being used so effectively and successfully by alternative media. CNN has almost 2 million YouTube subscribers. Alex Jones has over 2 million... and no slowing down in sight. Paul Joseph Watson? He's growing even faster.
They cannot allow it. They cannot allow freethinking to catch on and be popularized on their platform.
YouTubers have MASSIVE influence. Massive. It is more effective than TV ever was. And THAT is scary... specifically when the platformed is fashioned by corporations to suit their own needs.
If they would have allowed "alternative" media to overtake everything, as it naturally would had it not been for interference... then the huge influence of YouTube could have been an amazing mechanism for truth and freedom.
Alas, it's controlled by Google, a massive corporate monopoly... therefore, on their watch, they will not allow a freedom based media to get a foothold.
The replacement of the dinosaur MSM by "alternative" media cannot be stopped. I don't think it can even be hindered at this point. What YouTube is doing is futile... but it's being done to appease their masters. The massive popularity of "alternative media" and its viewerbase could have even been a cashcow for YouTube... let's face it.
But because of their allegiance to the evil control of the 'old guard'... they have shot themselves in the foot and their platform will effectively be buried and replaced with something massively popular, and purely alternative/freedom/truth based.
Beyond that, 'their' only hope is to control and limit the internet itself... which they have developed many schemes surrounding, and man is that a whole other topic entirely.
I see little signs of creepy thought control all over youtube , one of my favourites is street preachers cuz they stir people up - mostly SJW types- well many of them have had multiple accounts deleted just for spreading the good news of jesus and telling the wicked sinners they should repent of homosex , its all biblical . Anyway youtube now does not suggest other preachers similar to ones you like , they were doing that up till a few months ago ...its all a form of thought control .
