It's an intangible difference... it would seem.

Some type of non-physical influence or feature which has caused an altered state of awareness in humans.

The way humans think and reason is different than the other animals.

And they utilize their bodies based on this altered awareness... they manipulate their bodies to achieve tasks.

How did this difference come about? Alien intervention/DNA splicing? Archon-like interdimensional intervention? 

A difference in mentation likely denotes a difference in the brain. Could it have been a mass electrical event that rewired human brains and then they just kept reproducing the new version of brains in their offspring? Seems like a stretch.

But it could have something to do with electricity. 

It's an intangible difference...

What are the differences between human bodies and animal bodies?

I think we are the product of an alien intervention , perhaps they do this on many planets . Start off with reptiles and let the experiment run a few million years then introduce the next group of animals and finally humanoids . Not really sure how these aliens travel vast distances to watch over their experiments but maybe its like star trek and they can dematerialize and reappear where they want .

Thinking and Destiny describes it as the "Doer in the Body"...

An outside influence that is aware of being in a body and has the dimension of awareness to consider intricate manipulation of its surroundings.

So what you're suggesting is a lot like a fusion between the alien/DNA theory and the interdimensional intervention theory.

It's like looking down on a chessboard to them.

Like looking down on a miniature city model...

Only it's them looking at us from another dimension we can't see with our eyes.

I would suggest we can most certainly sense it though. We know.

The subconscious mind which isn't limited by veils of perception knows that we are being watched.

We're watched in the same way that we look at smaller bodies in a microscope...

We're a micro form of the anomaly.

The self-aware anomaly is studying itself throughout dimensions. It's layers upon layers of self-aware realization.
