The world has slid too far away from the innocence of those days.
And don’t get me wrong, things were fucked up back then too, but at least we were modest.

The pre-code era in Hollywood wasn't innocent by any means. A lot of the films were designed to titillate. That's why they started enforcing the censorship code by summer of 1934.
The thing is, they were subtle about it. Like 1960s rock music, they inserted sly double-entendres and sexual innuendo everywhere you looked. Naughty dames gratuitously prancing about in their silky slips and what-not. It was a beautiful thing.
