Now he's seeking to buy up the rest of Gawker...

http://www.breitbart.com/tech/2017/11/23...uy-gawker/

You know shit is disagreeable when you're basically leaving FB to buy MySpace.

LOL...

I mean it's not really a great analogy, but you see what I'm saying.

He's just buying the brand, basically. The site has been closed for over a year.

I dunno...

Shit at FB must REALLY be taking a dump, on every level.

I mean it must be some seriously morally repugnant shit if he's doing this.

I say good for him.

Everyone has heard of Gawker anyway, maybe he can do something with it.

It's not like you'd even have to jumpstart it, it's basically just waiting to go live.
Facebook is kinda like a joke now anyway...

Usership has dropped off a cliff, even the sheeple think it's a cesspool.

Everyone is looking to jump ship, but there isn't a viable alternative.

And Gawker isn't even a FB replacement, it's not about that.

Just a sign of the times though...

FB isn't cool anymore (it never was) and people would rather be somewhere else.
Hopefully people figured out spending time with their family in real life is better than bumping gums on a website.
Facebook was always God awful.

The way it came along and buried MySpace was shocking.

Going from MySpace, a place where you could customize your page with layouts, embed music, etc. and being herded into a platform totally devoid of individual expression like FB...

These days, there would be a huge conspiracy theory around it.

Everybody would think it was suspicious as fuck... unfortunately back then though, people were still incredibly naive.

It was the ultimate push to get rid of anonymity...

If you used your real name on MySpace, you were either crazy as fuck, or you were a celebrity who had a reason to.

FB single-handedly made it okay (in a totally fabricated and strategic move) to tie your real identity to your online persona.

It was CIA from the start...

I remember going through the FB profiles from user 1 to like 100 one night...

NONE of them were Mark Zuckerberg. They were ALL middle eastern, arab and Israeli names.
If Mark Fuckerberg had "invented" Facebook, he'd have been one of the first users, if not number 1. Maybe the coder would have been user 1... MAYBE. Suckerberg would have at least been in the first 5.

Just like Tom was user 1 on MySpace.
I thought it was strange how they convinced everyone to use their real names and post about their private business too. Some people have to learn the hard way. I bet it'll be a long time before anything like that happens again.
