WARNING: SPOILERS. HAPPENING. BELOW. DON'T READ IT IF YOU DON'T ALREADY KNOW.
This show is fucking hilarious, I dunno what it is about it...
It's so great. The setting is great even though it's basically always exactly the same.
I think that's part of what made it different from other shows... it has to give more care to developing the plot and to subtle nuance in order to be special or exciting.
Season 3, Episode 11 - "Hash"... Wojo brings in a box of brownies his new 'girlfriend' made, and unbeknownst to him, they're laced with pot:

2:54 is about where I start cracking up.
Just like when I was a kid and pretended to be Loni Anderson on WKRP in Cincinnati, I always used to pretend I worked at Barney Miller's 12th precinct too. My school desk came in handy, had a nameplate on it and everything. Worked so well for pretending both shows. It was so fun. I had a badge that I made out of a wallet. I put one of those glow in the dark star thingies in it, the kind you press onto your wall. It was so damn awesome... I had a black cap gun. Ah man. That shit felt so real too, the whole thing was like its own reality.
There's just so much epic humor in this show peppered in all over the place.
9:03 OMG LMFAO... this episode is gold, I remember not really getting it when I first saw it as a kid.
I always loved Harris, he's one of my favorites. I have Ron Glass' autograph, he is very kind. Aaaand, apparently he's dead. 11/25/16. Well then, thanks Google... *facepalm.
Dietrich was my favorite, I loved him hardcore, totally had a crush on that guy. Steve Landesberg. Who is also dead. I think he was the one who came along and replaced Fish... I never liked Fish all that much anyways. Although now, I understand his character better. I just never really 'got' him. I totally 'get' him now though, and can appreciate him more.
17:30 this episode is hardcore advocating legalization of whacky weed!!! Teehee!!! 17:40 ROFLMAO.
