Yes, they came up with this jive about the Force being caused by microbes. I think they scrapped that whole line of thinking in later films after fans threw rotten eggs at it.
If it had been part of the lore from the very beginning, I might have been able to work with it too. But you don't drop that shit in in the 4th episode after you've already built up a different story in the first three. It's incongruous.

Exactly. It was better when they left it to the audience's imagination. For some reason the whole franchise got dumbed down a lot for the next generation. Lucas and Spielberg with their goddamned shrill child actors. At least get someone whose testicles have dropped to play the lead.
