There’s a filter over the conscious mind which only allows for a certain capacity of memory. The subconscious mind and the body-mind, however, remembers all.

An unfiltered and unlimited capacity conscious mind would not facilitate an optimal life experience, because all memory being known at once would cause an overload which would ultimately stand in the way of life’s purpose.

The purpose of life is to be in the moment, and follow the progression of the possibilities of “ever-refreshing rate” which are based on what we have just perceptually experienced. Our sensory vehicle records the experience, and that data with its entirely unique perspective is there to be studied.

We live through cycles upon cycles of recurring themes, and this is the process through which we understand. It is unclear whether there is ever an ‘end’ to experiencing, wherein a ‘God-mind’ sorts through the data of all recorded experiences. The cyclical progression may itself be where this process takes place.
