They succeeded by having the mindset of trial and error, and having the cash to carry on after expensive errors.
They've learned how to 'hack' the matrix... the scientific community has purposely kept the rest of the world behind by at least 100 years if not more. But really 'science' is just a cover and only there to give a totally absurd and impossibly complicated answer whenever the public asks "How?"

It's a cute and fluffy story, but the truth is that they know how to align things 'beyond the veil' and it has nothing to do with math or even science at this point, it's general principle based, fundamental truths about the mechanics of 'reality'.
