growing rubber trees was so difficult...

He was a pretty interesting character . The first Ford factories making the model T  had a 300% employee turnover rate per year  even though he paid them twice the average wage of the time . The noise and smell was almost unbearable inside the massive buildings  making the first cars . His workers were mostly fresh off the boat from europe , I wonder how many illegals ?

Around 1928 and in need of massive rubber supplies Henry would send some of his detroit managers down to south america to  oversee the new rubber tree plantation  . They would force the wives to go along also because it kept their men from  drugs and prostitutes  .  Everybody had to take Quinine daily unless you enjoy malaria . Imagine no air conditioning and bugs galore ...imagine jonestown !  So people lasted a few months and would be feeling uber  depressed and begged to be returned to detroit .
