Those sites weren't cheap either...
Big money went in and bought 'em all out.
Just how much funding was put toward the effort though?
There's big money, then there's real big money...
I liked what really happened as an alternative and glp as a source for breaking news. I would like to use my homepage on fb to post all the news stories that interest me but I think it would have a negative impact/association on the viewer and I would not like that stimulus associated with my fb page.
Over the last three years I've seen most alternative news site, blog, and independent guys on social media get banned or bought out too. Most people have the IQ of a communist so they think that is a sign of strength but it is more likely the opposite right?
Yes politically infiltrated

i remembered one of my favorite blogs,
rigorous intuition!!!
it was never a forum when I read it,
it was a blog but the address seems correct
Yeah there were a few blogs with that same name, but they hadn't been updated in years and years.
I mean HOLY SHIT...
https://phys.org
I'm in AWE of how HORRIBAD the headlines on Phys.org are now...
And that site absolutely used to be one of THE BEST.
One of the ABSOLUTE best.
It's fricken sad, y'all.
Sott.net still has good stuff sometimes but man...
NONE OF THEM are as good as they used to be, with a lot of them just being all-out failures now.
They were bought out and intentionally ruined.
A formerly informative and truth filled site which is bought out and then degraded in quality is DANGEROUS.
BECAUSE it could then be used as a tool by the new controllers to flip the narrative and praise the very things it used to warn against when it was owned by upstanding people.
It's a tactic as old as humanity, but with regards to individual websites, yeah it is "new"...
Because the sites start off good, then they get sold and the narrative gets flipped.
See how that works chronologically?
Just greed... and pressure...but mainly.... Although they may start with great intentions and a give it to the man attitude...money can soon alter ones thinking...and unless they are savvy they won't be able to offer another opinion like they had on the web for years... typical business .... they effectively have been silenced...but hey...they are rich and can live life on the beach...so who cares
Me personally, I would never sell out.
I have seen people sell out...
It's never worth it.
I've also seen people want to sell out and not be able to.
If only people actually believed in the principle behind what they're doing with these websites, rather than just placing money above all else.
