What the fuck is this song about?
I don’t get it.
I’m suspicious.
That was my favorite song when it was released, and still one of my favorite Haulin' Oats songs. I wore out the 45 RPM record when I bought it.
The lyrics are simple. What is it about the song that you're not getting?

This line is pure fucking genius:
Everybody always laughs at love
But what they want is to be proven wrong

Definitely my favorite part of the song.

I THINK I finally get it.
It sort of clicked tonight!
He's saying this person came along and 'proved him wrong' about love and 'did it in a minute', furthermore.
I THINK that's what it means.
I think it's about how you keep meeting somebody whom you think is "the one" but they're on a whole different path than you and it wasn't meant to be.

Hall is an amazing vocalist and musician. Oats is a great musician too, but Hall really is the sick talent.
This is real talent. A real band playing and singing - for REAL
THIS VIDEO MAKES THE HALL AND OATES SEEM SO INNOCENT AND LIKE THEY NEVER DID ANYTHING WRONG AND AREN'T EVEIL.
The rest of the song from 4:08 is my fave.
5:12 LOL that guy's adorable.
"Don't mess with imperfection." So meaningful though.
God would you just look at how intoxicatingly sexy Hall and Oates are...
Gotta be honest though...
Tonight in the shower I was fantasizing about Samantha Sang having covered this song like right after it came out, and how hot the accompanying music video would have been...
With her just hypnotically, almost psychotically gazing into the camera singing the chorus...

I open my eyes first thing in the morning and my latest favorite Hall & Oates song is right back at being stuck in my head...
