This is a great point that I didn't even think of when I started this discussion. I was trying to think of examples of famous people who could prove my point... actually the Hitler thing was random, I didn't even know about the age of his parents when I mentioned him.

But Jack is a remarkable case. I mean, it's exceptionally rare that a woman of 45 gives birth in the first place, let alone to a healthy child. I would say that in the case of Jack, his remarkable qualities and clear differences from other people could actually be attributed to the age of his parents. As they say, there's a fine line between genius and insanity... maybe there's a fine line between being 'touched' in the head in a bad way, and being so in a GOOD way.

Nothing would surprise me. Physically, Jack turned out to be an outstanding specimen. His intellectual/psychological state, although obviously VERY unique, doesn't seem to have impacted his life in a bad way, rather it seems to have played a part in his brilliant successes.

I think that people at the age of 30-40 may be perfectly ready and suited to become parents. By that age range, you've experienced enough life to get a good start on wisdom, and to know NOT to do stupid shit. So while Jack's parents had him a tad late, it seems like they were much closer to the OPTIMAL age range to reproduce than, say for example, a couple of 20 year olds would have been.

I think in an ideal world, older age wouldn't start to become apparent for at least another decade...

So say for example, instead of showing very obvious signs of aging at 50, it could be pushed back to 60 instead.

The optimal age for reproduction could then be 35-45, providing a higher chance of quality parents with wisdom and experience.

Yeah I think even the Catholics have settled down. You don't see a lot of double digits anymore. My mother did have her 3rd in her early 40s but that was a fluke...Good points in the other thread about the societal changes that have led to smaller more disconnected families. Most of my greats had 10 or more. Some voluntary depopulating going on for sure

Have you ever noticed how a lot of the time, the people who want to reproduce the most are typically genetically pissweak? And I'm not talking about people who accidentally keep getting knocked up, I said people who WANT to reproduce. I'm talking about people who WANT to start a family and all that shit.

Usually they've got their sights set on somebody they view (typically subconsciously) as a GENETIC UPGRADE. And usually, they can't get that person they want, so they settle for the "next best" or just whatever the hell they can get.

People are going around (subconsciously driven) looking for a way to BREED UP.

And think about this...

Say you have a kid at 20.

When they're 15, you're 35.

So if you spent all those important early adulthood years taking care of a kid, did you really learn anything useful about life to relay to them?

When the fuck did you get a chance to learn anything about life that they didn't experience right along with you at the time?

Say you're 25 and you have a shite experience... your 5 year old kid is going to see the effects that experience had on you, but the likelihood they'll understand that experience or take away any profound info from it is LOW.

So they'll have been upset by your response to the experience, but they're not gonna actually learn anything from it. They're not gonna understand it and note that information so they can avoid such experiences for themselves in the future.

It would have been better if you could have learned from that experience without having a child around who also had to second hand suffer because of it. That way, in the future, at the age of 35 when you finally had a kid, you'd be armed with more knowledge, you'd avoid bad situations...

And on down the line when the kid is 15, and you're 50, you can tell them about that experience from LONG AGO, and they can learn from your wisdom.

They would have never had to experience that trauma whatsoever.

If you have a kid when you're too young, you're gonna be making a bunch of dumb, youth related mistakes...

And they're gonna spend their formative years seeing you do dumb shit you won't really understand or learn from for like another 5-10 years.

They'll be like 20 by the time you even start to get wise, old enough to have made their own totally regrettable mistakes.

It's totally inefficient.
