Cooking with cast iron...
#61
My eggs stuck to the skillet this morning. It looks like it has a good coating on it, and I even oiled it before I used it. But there are twenty people handling that skillet, and most of them have no business fucking with cast iron.

Yeah I just looked and mine does have these... I probably wouldn't have noticed, just like I wouldn't have known my blood type makes me prone to dementia, without this thread lol. I get all my good info from this site.

The bumpiness is great for really getting that seasoning to stick to itself layer upon layer... there's a method to the madness, and I really think Lodge totally nailed it with their finish. I cannot believe how non-stick it is right from the get-go. I am so grateful for cast iron... for real.

That's hot.

I'm gonna get one of deez:

I'll have to measure the stove in my new apartment first to see which size will fit.

I want to get the grill because entering an explicit description of the skillet I wanted into Amazon search returns page after page of irrelevant results.

You know what, I feel like griddles are a man thing.

Kinda like how grilling is for men.

It's definitely a man thing.

I mean...

What does one do with a griddle that one can't do with a pan??

There's some kind of man logic that females can't tap into when it comes to griddles and grills.

You can have different temperature zones on a flat grill. Or at least on a restaurant grill. Not sure how that would work out with a grill that covers two stove burners. You can cook eggs, meat, hash browns, and pancakes at the same time. I'm gonna get some egg rings and a sear press to go with it.

Egg rings are awesome. You can make your own Egg McMuffin.

I like sausage, egg, and cheese croissants, but the microwavable ones aren't as good as fresh ones.

Chopped garlic butter & olive oil basted dough (oregano mixed in) with sweet peppers, pepperoni and mozzarella and more oregano sprinkled on top...

Pan clean up was the easiest yet. It was an absolute dream.

I love cast iron and thank God for cast iron.

I can't tell you how grateful I am.

It's better than the first one, I think I've got it down now.

The rise that baking powder gives all purpose flour is kinda insane.

I see no reason to get yeast involved in my life.

Maybe someday, but like...

I'm perfectly contented with flatbread.

Butter up them spinach leaves and put them right on the pizza.

Yeah I thought about that. This was canned spinach though, I'd have to use fresh spinach.

There's no reason "pizza" can't be healthy. I wanna get some spelt... that's like next level flour.

I actually want the screen to steam tortillas over a pan of boiling water. I'd normally use a double boiler for that, but I don't use a double boiler for much else, and I want to keep the amount of crap in my kitchen to a minimum.

I'm totally gonna make pizzas with it too though. What, are you kidding me?

If you order pizza in New Haven CT, you'd better ask for cheese. Otherwise you're just gonna get crust with sauce on it.
