The Wuhan Coronavirus
Yikes.

I've already heard a few intense breakup stories. Oddly enough I've also heard of separated people getting back together...

Having been in messy relationships of my own and witnessed a lot of other people's messy relationships, the solution is simple for me.

Resist the urge to shack up. If someone tries to pressure you into it, it's a safe bet they're wanting you to save them from some mess they've gotten themselves into, and not because they're really looking to cultivate a mutually beneficial relationship.

Which could be put in a more general way: be wary of people who are in survival mode. They're focused on escaping their own mess by any means necessary. You and anyone else they encounter are just a means to that end.

Yep, or because they can't take care of themselves in some way/shape/form, and/or are afraid to be alone.

I've seen A LOT of people griping about loneliness since this whole quarantine thingy began...

A LOT of people out there are extremely needy and hate being alone.

I know humans are supposed to be pack animals or whatever, but I spend my life isolated as a general rule, this is nothing new for me and I absolutely love it more than I could ever explain.

I don't understand people who are afraid of solitude.

Afraid of silence.

Afraid to take a break between relationships and pull themselves together.

I especially don't understand people who have been married 3 or 4 times and want to get married again.

Damn, haven't they had enough?

I don't believe humans are herd animals by default.

In prehistoric times, when there were fewer than a million people on earth, the tribes all spread out. It was rare to even see another person outside your immediate family.

Same thing in the old west. If you could see the smoke from your neighbor's chimney, it was time to move further west.

Cities were built to concentrate the labor needed for industry into one place. Now that all of the industry has moved to China, there's no reason for them to exist.

Most of the socialization modern society forces upon us is pointless. It serves no practical end. Everything they say to rationalize cramming a few million people who have nothing in common into one place is ideological bullshit.

Facebook is bullshit for the same reason. Cramming two billion people who have nothing in common onto one website serves no legitimate purpose.

Oh man... that's something I've seen go terribly wrong more than a couple times.

People who can't stand to be alone after breakups and jump right into another relationship headfirst no matter how much they claim the last one meant to them... *rolls eyes*

If it had meant that much, they wouldn't have moved on so fast. Disgusts me.

I don't feel bad for people who don't take enough time between relationships... they're usually not great people.

That really made me feel a longing in my being for "the good old days" that I've never even seen before.

Solitude is enriching, but so many people treat it like it's some kind of curse... their loss.

I have theories about this. Us introverts are likely descended from rural/farming/poor people. Most of my relatives were raised in rural north Texas. Some of them actually picked cotton despite being white as snow! Many generations of rural/farm living tend to produce people who are patient/calm/slow/introverted. Many generations of city living produces the opposite.

My wife just talked to a veterinarian friend who has worked at the Mayo Clinic. He said he's fairly sure it's manufactured.

You mean that it's a manmade virus?

Or that the whole thing is a psy-op?
