Light rain. Laura is about 95 miles south of here. It'll still be a category 1 hurricane when it arrives. I've never seen a Gulf hurricane hold together this far inland.

Looks like it'll pass a little to the east, so we'll be on the easy side of it. Glad we're finally getting some rain.

The wind and rain have picked up a little. Still nothing too exciting.
This area is prone to torrential thunderstorms, even without a hurricane.
The town is criss-crossed with deep ditches. I think the main danger will be flying debris and trees falling on houses.

Check out this shitty WaPo stream.
They're just driving through not saying anything and the stream is buffering and pixelated LOL.

After the massive nightmare that was hurricane Dorian...
I dunno, nothing seems all that bad in comparison.
There's a lot of damage from Laura but it seems like it could have been a lot worse.

Definitely a lot of damage... but it doesn't seem like things are leveled. Just seems like a lot of structural damage.

Seeing people streaming from multi-story houses built on pilings with waves hitting against the top level windows was pretty damn traumatizing.

We wuz robbed.
It fizzled out down by Natchitoches before it got here.
For some of y'all that ain't been down south too much, that's pronounced "NACK-uh-DISH." Now you're a coonass.
Then it went further east than expected.
It's been pretty calm with a very light rain since I checked in last.
We get more rain than this from a run-of-the-mill thunderstorm.
So yeah, we wuz robbed.

Yep... that's exactly what happened.

It seems like it went over an area where there wasn't a lot going on.
I think a lot of prayers were answered.
