The day shelter and night shelter both have kennels. Today, the biggest legion of staffers and volunteers I’ve ever seen turned out at the night shelter to do what? Fix the human accommodations? No. To tear down and rebuild the kennels.
They apparently put a new fuse in the coffee urn though. This morning, they had coffee that was basically brown water.
Homeless people "owning" dogs is one of the weirdest phenomena in the fucking world.
I equate it to people using pets as their emotional dumpsters.
Especially if it's a little dog, cuz you can't even count on a small dog for security, can you???

I made 11.50 selling pops for 50 cents apiece today. The store that has the 20 pound bag of ice has generic store brand sodas for $4.19 per twelve pack of cans. Today’s selection was cream soda, cherry cola, peach, strawberry kiwi, and lemon lime.
There are a couple of other pop peddlers in the ranks, so there’s a bit of competition. I sell mine in the night shelter parking lot in the afternoons, before the other two guys get here.

A lot of the new dogs are puppies, so they’re particularly useless for protection. There are also a lot of stray dogs and puppies roaming the neighborhood.

Jeff was the first pop merchant who had a reputation as such, as far as I know. I don’t know where he sells his. He often gets on a bus early in the morning and stays gone all day. He’s so well known that he doesn’t have to advertise. People just come up to him and ask for a pop.
I have a leaky styrofoam cooler that breaks easily if I try to pick it up when it’s full of ice and pops. I leave it in the back of Scott’s pickup truck. I make signs with drawing paper and a Sharpie, and stick them under my front and rear windshield wipers. Then I just wait for people to come up and ask for a pop.
The other popmonger also sells Little Debbies and shit. Everything he sells is priced at 50 cents. He hawks his wares in the dorm after hours. I’m pretty much done fooling with pops by check-in time.

I saw my primary care doctor this morning. He’s going to refer me to a surgeon once we see what the antibiotics accomplish. I’m also going to see a VA social worker about my disability application.

Two Asian ladies stopped by the night shelter and handed out Chinese food. Egg stir fried rice, egg rolls, and noodles. A pleasant change from the usual.
Someone abandoned their epilepsy meds out front. I pounded on the door of the night shelter a couple of times to let them know it was out there, but nobody ever answered.
The pop stand is open. Today, I have a red cream soda that tastes like Big Red.

I made $8 helping some guys sell scrap metal today. They didn’t have an ID, and you have to have an ID to sell scrap metal. I hope that shit wasn’t stolen.

My battery is too low to be watching videos. Lol
I’m probably gonna fuck off to the park early today. I’m supposed to avoid direct sunlight while taking my antibiotics. The shade around these shelters isn’t very reliable. Not to mention I need a break from these assholes.

Scott and I drove around town this morning. I showed him both of the lakes I visit. Then I dropped him off back at the night shelter and went to the park for a few hours. He had sold $5 worth of pops for me by the time I came back this afternoon.
They’re not letting us take showers tonight because they only have three people working. That’s never stopped them before. Lazy fucks. I’m going to smuggle some wet wipes into the restroom and freshen up.

If you have specific areas that require special care/first aid, you may wanna see if you can get some antimicrobial spray, or maybe some iodine, or some other special sorta cleansing solutions rather than having to rely solely on the shower situation which sounds undependable.

The wound care people will give me a spray bottle of wound cleaner. I go through one of those every week or so.
I’m looking forward to having some of that liquid lidocaine poured on it again.

I’m really tempted to start naming names on these fuckers, but I don’t want to risk revealing my location. I dropped a hint in this thread for those who have eyes to see.
Suffice it to say, if you donate to homeless shelters, be aware your money isn’t accomplishing what you think it is.
