I don't know enough about volcanoes to say either way whether or not 'fissures' used to be a thing.
But the fact that people are coming out of the woodwork claiming to have never heard of this before kind of points to Kilauea as being a 'place marker'.
That's kinda what I meant with this post:

7:42 nah definitely not... I don't agree with all that kinda stuff. I mean, even if it was the case, you'd have to live in caves or some shit, or humanity would just die off. Like they're supposed to in such a circumstance.
Those who cling onto their lives will lose them... we'll all die anyway, but there's something to be said for gracefully letting it go and not kicking/screaming all the way.
It's all an illusion anyway... if you like living, don't worry. You'll be back.
