Just starting to read the article and yeah, my emotions have been totally erratic. Super outgoing with people I've hung out with today, really animated and enjoying a lot of laughs and whatnot.
Then it swings around to being super touched by things.

That sounds a lot like Uranus!!
It's easy. All you have to do to see what planets are transiting your chart is look up the current placement of the planets and how they aspect your personal natal planets and what houses they fall in your natal chart.
I use an ephemeris, here is one for 2018 from astro.com and another one that might be easier to read/understand from Astrology Cafe--scroll down and it will tell you what signs each planet is in.

I appreciate this...
I've been urged lately to learn to read the ephemeris and go to the next level with this, but it just seems intimidating and I've been kinda putting it off.
So the more simple it can be for me the better.

It still suggests mood swings though!

Then check out the second link which is easier to understand.
For the first link, you basically just need to memorize the symbols for each planet and sign to be able to read an ephemeris (some are easy like the Venus and Mars signs that we all know, the moon sign looks like a half moon, etc.)

I feel emotional all the time. Just yesterday I almost cried suddenly when I saw the clouds and the deep blue sky. It reminded me of Fall, so why not get emotional for that? lol.

Oh no I definitely feel emotion...
Mostly positive stuff that makes me laugh is the most common emotion type of response from me.
I do have love emotions.
But when it comes to like... DISPLAYS of emotion, crying and that kinda stuff, I mean that basically never happens.
I also want to add that I believe my emotions were related to this shift which took place:

Oh yeah, I don't display a lot of emotion. I mean, I cry easily at movies and stuff but I don't just wail and carry on in public. I think that people who are very intelligent tend to display less emotion in that way.
