Man... It's pretty well known that shit walked away from those NASA facilities every time an Administration changed hands. People stole Moon rocks, and space suits and pretty much everything cool that they could get their hands on.

You won't find reports about it though, the only proof of that massive theft is all the stuff that now resides in private collections that never gets mentioned until it goes up for sale. -Since there is no documentation (because it is stolen) it ends up going right back into another private collection.

Same thing happens with large museums and any large institution that experiences "churn" which is basically all of them.

The I.G. (Inspector General) is pretty good at holding people accountable, but
People steal shit and corruption exists.
