I used to wonder why nature designed (some of) us to get incredibly unpleasant when we're hungry...
I used think it made no sense, after all, if we were very hungry, wouldn't it be more beneficial for it to make us extra nice just in case somebody would have mercy on us and give us food?
Then I realized that it makes us angry and full of rage because that's the only way to guarantee we'd be brazen enough to steal or otherwise do whatever we had to for food/to survive...
Because you can absolutely fucking never count on the good graces of other people. We'd all be fucking dead.
