And I mean, bear in mind, China is basically banning cash now.
These steps being taken are absolutely huge and the whole purpose of this could be bringing down the old control system (monetary, et al) and replacing it with the new system.
If the virus is real, it's likely just a population culling to get rid of the old people who may be resistant to these sort of changes. And as far as anyone else susceptible to it, well it's probably just for population control in general.

Regardless of whether the virus is even real, it looks like they will be attacking physical money...
