The EU is supposed to be like a federal government for its member states. Yet, the EU parliament hasn't even convened to discuss how to handle the outbreak, let alone implemented any policies to deal with it. President Trump's response may have been a little slow, but he got the ball rolling in a major way once he saw how this was going to play out. Angela Merkel and some other proponents of the EU have self-isolated, and are nowhere to be found. Individual countries have been left to fend for themselves, or to rely upon countries that are supposedly their enemies (e.g., Russia, China, and Cuba) for aid.
This spells the end of the EU. They've been fucking the member states for decades, and now they won't even help them in a time of crisis. Expect Italy and Greece to leave the EU soon.
