I've often thought that creating the intellectual framework for understanding how something might work automatically creates the possibility of it working.

For example, traveling faster than the speed of light can't possibly work right now, but one day someone will have an intuition of how it could work, then it will suddenly become possible.

Almost as if they dreamed the reality into existence.
