I basically just marinated it on the stove.
I dozed off after I put it in the pot. Awoke to the smell of cooked chicken.
Evidently quite a bit of the broth overflowed into the drip pan under the burner during this process. I had a fun stove fire of semi-alarming size for a few minutes. I just let it burn itself out. I ain't fucking around with a hot burner and open flames together.
The reason I had all of that yardbird is because, being in a poor state like Louisiana, the churches and food banks are feverishly shoveling mass quantities of food into everyone's hands. I'm talking restaurant-sized packages of stuff. It apparently doesn't matter whether you're needy or not.
My mom and sister-in-law make a point of attending every giveaway. I invariably end up having to take their surplus off their hands and redistribute it. My freezer is full. My pantry shelves are collapsing. The lady next door with five kids has dinner for at least a week.
My brother told his wife we need to slow down on the food bank trips, and I told my mom the same thing.
