In the Korean War, my grandfather (who was in the Air Force) was working on a plane... he got hung up on a propeller and came home in a straitjacket. He had a complete psychological breakdown and spent about 40 years doing stints of damn near vegetable state pharmaceutical drug induced sedation on the couch (thorazine).
I guess things improved, because by the time I got to know him, he was still crazy as hell, but damn he was fun to be around! We used to ride bikes and throw random shit into trees... grandma would come home and there would be rakes and brooms and all kinds of shit in all the trees in the front yard. It was fun... but the war absolutely did ruin his life/mind.
So what would he say?
Well, he wouldn't like it.
