You're risking food poisoning when you go and do some shit like that...
Take the same salmon in a cool climate in a part of the world that isn't just 100% contradictory to salmon's existence, and it'd probably be fine.
Try to do the same thing in the desert though, and I really dunno how well that's gonna work out.
Stick to cowboy foods...
Jerky (land animals), beans, bread, etc.
