I do feel that our inner "chatter" can either be destructive or it can be healthy for us. It's very important to get a handle on it. To recognize your inner chatter and thoughts and to put the brakes on negative ones.
After awhile you'll just naturally have a better attitude within you.
I'm no expert or anything, but I think that it has to start with being good to yourself. I think we can basically choose to be happy or not.
