Quote:In August 2021, it was reported that the One in a Million album and Aaliyah's other recorded work with Blackground (since rebranded as Blackground Records 2.0) would be re-released on physical, digital, and streaming services in a deal between the record label and Empire Distribution. However, Aaliyah's estate, run in part by Rashad, issued a statement preempting Blackground 2.0's announcement, denouncing an "unscrupulous endeavor to release Aaliyah's music without any transparency or full accounting to the estate". One In A Million was reissued on August 20, 2021.

Yeah it sounds like a fancy way to say they find fault with the timing of the release...
In typical loosh harvest fashion, in typical follow the money fashion...
It's all about popularizing her to a new generation on the 20th anniversary of her death just to make more $$$.
It'll be one of the last times the dying old guard elitist power structure gets to do some shit like this.
The way I see it...
At least the album will be in people's hands again for a reasonable price...
I get that the estate is salty about it, they've got every right to be for the reasons stated above, but...
I don't think having more Aaliyah in the world again is gonna be a bad thing.
