It reminds me of parts of the FX series "Marvel's: Legion"
Protagonist is in a mental hospital because he let's people know "he can see things" (seer).
He meets another patient who also later if found out to have "super-powers" and they
escape THEIR matrix and go on some crazy adventures.
Most under-rated Marvel series every. Great acting, directing, actors.
