Free websites show your level of dedication to whatever it is that you're doing.
If it's free and has a free URL, you just don't care that much about whatever it is.
And sometimes that's fine. Not all projects need their own domain name, and maybe for some, a free page on Wordpress or something like that would really do just fine.
But in any serious matters whatsoever, if you don't have your own domain name, you're just not serious whatsoever.
My qualm with your approach is that you're just not taking it seriously enough.
If you were, you'd have at the least your own domain name, and if you were very serious, you'd have your own hosting.
It's okay to admit you're not that serious about whatever you're doing, but at least don't ACT AS IF you are, when you only ever needed to act indifferent about it in the first place.
Emotional responses are wholly unnecessary here.
