I think in an ideal world, older age wouldn't start to become apparent for at least another decade...
So say for example, instead of showing very obvious signs of aging at 50, it could be pushed back to 60 instead.
The optimal age for reproduction could then be 35-45, providing a higher chance of quality parents with wisdom and experience.
