Wild West Outlaws: Historical Superstars Of American Culture
#57
Jesse James' handwriting was almost 100% readable if you took the time, which I didn't, lmao. I just sorta glossed over it and tried to make out what I could.

It REALLY makes me think, though. A lot of this stuff is written in cursive-ish style. People aren't even taught cursive in school anymore. And let's get real... the shit is hard to read. I think plain printing has a better chance of being legible down the line for future readers. That said, who knows? What if someday in the not even too far future, plain printing isn't even legible to your average fucker? Scary!

Plus the fact that a lot of people's handwriting is just shit, cursive OR printing. My handwriting is kind of... like, not great sometimes. It DOES vary though. Sometimes it's quite neat (at least for me), and other times it's a horrorshow.

Hmmm.

And I mean, look at fucking Custer's handwriting compared to James'...

With all due respect, what the shit, sir??

Like...

That's 20% readable at best. At least for me.

So while I honor and appreciate the fact that Custer wrote at length AT ALL (thank God he did)...

It's not like, all that useful to me if I'm being 100% honest.

If I'm being 100% honest...

That ONE letter from Jesse James that I can actually read and drool and lust over is better than 30 letters from Custer where I can make out maybe like 5 words max in the whole thing.
