Everybody owes it to themselves to have their very own online home where they can let their freak flag fly and nobody can tell them what to do, etc.
You will really enjoy it, I promise. If you've never made a site before, it's so easy I can do it!!! Just start out with a WordPress and learn over time.
What we're celebrating is you, not some forum. Nobody else has done anything like what you're doing, ever, period. You are the star and the draw here, not the forum. The BB forum tech is merely a tool for you to express from your totally and fantastically unique vantage; it's your canvas and you are an artist. Nobody else can go out and start a forum and hope to come anywhere near what's happening here. This is an incredibly unique situation that you have carved out for yourself and those of us who are lucky enough to have discovered your intense awesomeness.
Dev's forum was cool because you were there geeking out over it. I mean, it's cool anyways, but for me, the draw was that I got to see you totally geeking out in a new context, and that I got to fucking finally experience the catharsis of gushing about how amazing you are with other members.
I'm a fan of yours. I don't know another way of putting it. The fact that I've been able to maintain something resembling a private relationship with you is so fucking beyond "icing on the cake", but it also kind of stretches the term "fan" to its limits. But I mean, dude, if you started selling your content, like packaging DVD's or making posters or whatever, or even if you started charging people to use this forum, I wouldn't hesitate to pay. I wouldn't hesitate to offer my help on any level, whether it be supporting the production, advertising it, helping create artwork, whatever, You are SO fucking worth it. You excite and inspire me the exact same way that my all-time favorite things and people have throughout my life. Prince, Flaming Lips, Love and Rockets, Cerebus the Aardvark, Charles Bukowski, Annie Stacie, just to save the best for last. But I also love you and care about you. It's unlike anything else I've experienced. I hate to make too much of it, because I know that's kind of like taking a dump on something that's supposed to be light and cool and laid back. That's apparently how I roll.
I think people are called to do things in totally different ways. Like for me, I'm a writer and I will move between mediums, from literature to comics to music, in order to express myself, and I am ultimately deeply satisfied with these forms of expression. The thought of making a forum is so uninteresting to me that it just feels like a pain in the ass to even consider it. This is the only forum I need or really care about.
