I don't think that could actually happen. Not legally, anyway. The primary duty of a U.S. Marshal is to uphold the supremacy of civilian rule. The military is only allowed to step in if civilian law enforcement gets overwhelmed, e.g., in the case of a massive riot. A crime committed by a couple of men isn't exactly an insurrection against the U.S. government.
