"Gunsmoke" (1955) - Review & Commentary
S9 E26 - "Caleb"

6:35 it's so sweet of Quint to look out for Matt that way.

11:06 what a boring dismal life. Damn yo. But like, the cabin is nice. It's not like it couldn't be lively if they tried to make it that way... they could open a couple gamblin' tables and spread the word around, get some action in there. But I gotta say, from what I've seen on this show, no way I'd wanna live out in the sticks like that. I'd wanna be right in the middle of Dodge City in the 1880s.

11:12 DORCAS?!?!?!?!?!

11:27 oh Lord, he's having a mid life crisis. Time to move your ass to Dodge, son.

12:00 "It's one thing to dream of youngins, it's another thing to have 'em. All they add to is more cookin', more scrubbin', more chores." Amen, she's right.

12:18 well if he wants to go to Dodge and find himself a younger saloon girl to marry so she can have his obnoxious offspring, I'd let him go right ahead. He don't need the farm though, seeing as how he don't even like it. I'd let him leave it to me and he can fuck off to Dodge and start himself a new life.

12:33 he's right though... their life is boring as shit and he needs to make a change. It's obvious she doesn't have any fun aspirations though, so it's best just to leave her behind. I would.

13:22 oh Lord... he's gonna have to kill her.

13:55 wow this lady is a real buzzkill... I think this guy needs to go even bigger than Dodge.

16:20 no but TBH, he should have. Fuck his wife.

19:48 you know, one thing I'll say about that particular male extra is that he has a very recognizable backside. I appreciate the fact that they used the same extras as townspeople throughout many episodes. Makes things so much more realistic, it really is brilliant. They wanted people who were recognizable from far away and they nailed it.

25:08 are those pickles on the top left?? Hell yeah dude, damn, the Long Branch has it going on these days!!! Miss Kitty has the bitchinest job in all of Dodge.

26:07 I love Miss Kitty's drawstring purses.

27:58 there's his new wife!

30:44 these two are excellent on screen together.

33:10 it's good to see Miss Kitty throw somebody out... it doesn't happen often enough.

46:10 Dodge is pretty anti-dog, so I don't think this is a good sign.

49:55 not a massive fan of the freeze frame at the end of that zoom out. Great episode though.
