"Gunsmoke" (1955) - Review & Commentary
S13 E9 - "The Pillagers"

Who's ready to meet NEWLYYYY O'BRIIIIAAANNNNN!?????! This is his first episode.

1:06 you know what, as he was getting in the stagecoach, I thought to myself, "Damn, he looks super Irish." Like I wanted to make a joke about how I expected him to start talking with a hardcore Irish accent anytime now. And THEN I realized his last name is literally Irish. Wow, they really did a great job casting him. So far he seems okay. It would really suck not to like Newly, since he's in the rest of the show. Is he really a doctor though??

1:37 how could anybody not call out these dudes for being trouble right off the bat before the stage even leaves?? Come on. I mean, I get it, it's public transport, lots of weirdos... but come on.

2:27 man... there must be something really special about Buck Taylor if they picked him for this role. He's one of those dudes who looked his hottest at an absurdly old age. This here is Baby Buck. He's just a youngster at 29.

3:10 Newly's already in good with the Queen of Dodge. He shouldn't have much else to worry about.

6:00 Newly doesn't look like he's the least bit concerned with this guy waving a gun around. I like that.

6:11 "Sometimes surprise is more better."

6:30 oh he's likable. He's very likable.

12:33 well, that's an unfortunate misunderstanding! LOL! I think he's really sweet that he carries the bag though. Kiiind of a bad idea, but totally within his right I guess. He can totally BS his way through this one though, for sure. He's gonna wing it.

13:20 so I guess Newly is a nickname for Newton?? I like that.

13:33 "Like my Uncle Newton used to say, there's a time for worrying and a time for doing."

19:02 check out that bitchin' leather jacket.

22:56 well that's not creepy at all.

24:04 Festus is wearing a badge!!!!!!!!!!!

37:29 I meeeheheheeeeaaaannnn... Kitty's right though.

Well, I like Newly. They did a great job dreaming up his character, great casting, great portrayal. I was worried I wasn't gonna like the guy, but I like him.
