0:50 hmmm... could they have possibly made it to the debris field? What if they really did get caught up in the wreckage and couldn't get loose, AND they lost power too? That'd be seriously fucked up. I guess it's possible. I still don't think that's what happened.
6:26 lol... I like this Aaron guy.
8:07 the synching of spare remotes is a really good point.
9:50 another great point re: the oxygen supply. I doubt they really tested it to that degree. It's possible if they were stuck and knocking, they may have run out of air yesterday when the knocking supposedly ceased.
12:40 well after seeing this, I have no doubt they're definitely dead at this point, whether it imploded or not. Just the plot holes with the air situation alone is enough to close the book on the question of whether they're still alive.
16:03 he's right, the fact that loss of comms was so typical suggests they might have just gone ahead and started exploring around the wreckage because they were so close to it at that point. The mothership probably just figured they'd reestablish contact hours later on the way back up. Maybe something went wrong and they got trapped. That's the only reason they wouldn't utilize the various methods to get back to the surface.
I mean... Stockton was the main dude behind this whole operation and he was on board. Harding had done all kinds of insane shit, I'm sure he figured it would go fine. Maybe they felt emboldened because of their previous experiences with exploration. How common was it for Stockton to be on board?? Did they all feel like this specific trip was a special occasion just because of the people involved?? They were all pretty much billionaires. It's not always mega wealthy people who take that trip, sometimes it's just hardcore obsessors. Maybe they felt like they could push the envelope with exploration in this instance because of who they all were?
I would imagine that the passengers themselves in this specific situation could have a lot of sway on whether or not they abort the mission as soon as something "typical" goes wrong, or they choose instead to push the envelope and go on with the mission anyway.
19:00 "ridiculous and unsafe"... I think that sums up the whole operation very well.
19:13 well there you have it. This was Stockton's attitude about things. Looks like they decided to mess around down there even after having lost comms because they just didn't take the situation seriously enough, and they all paid the ultimate price for it.
