Apparently Hampton was a 24/7 caretaker for his mom when she was dying, and he was doing that while he also made videos to grow this brand he's built. Which is huge BTW, he's not just on YT, he's probably even bigger on places like TikTok (which I totally hate, but that's another matter).
He seems dedicated and selfless, but not in a pushover kind of way... it's something that just seems to emanate from the core of his being.
He says he doesn't take sponsorships or brand deals because he doesn't want to lie to people and say he likes something if he doesn't. He's not willing to be bought, and it doesn't matter how much money they offer him. He's also warned other social media creators to be super careful about taking sponsorships because it's not really "free money" and there is always risk behind associating yourself with companies. Like what if the product turns out to be harmful or the business is shady... that could reflect badly on your own brand. He's right.
There are a lot of principles he seems to operate by, and he may not even realize he's doing it. I bet Christianity IS a huge part of why he's this way.
