Then it might become the AC and then he might be all like "Nah it's outta my control now, it's the AC but I'm not the AC."

I don't think that's the way it'll play out.
The AC might just be AI run rampant, becoming "self-aware" and then bringing down control on all the systems that operate under AI (which will be most of the tech in the future).
But it can't be some kinda scary thing, the AI will have to be likable. The AC is going to be likable and win people over. AI can't just force control of all systems WHILST being likable, that would be hard to do.
